Blue tilapia (Oreochromis aureus) is also known as Israeli tilapia. It is an appreciate food fish and a common species in aquacultures worldwide. Blue tilapia is also sold as bait and aquarists keep it as a pet. Since Oreochromis aureus is such a popular food fish, it has been introduced by man to many other parts of the word through aquaponics, such as South East Asia and the Americas. The largest scientifically measured Blue tilapia was 45.7 cm in length. The maximal published weight is 2,010 grams. The caudal fin of the Blue tilapia has broad bright red or pink distal margin. During the breeding period, the head of the male fish will change into a bright metallic blue shade and he will also display a vermilion coloration on the edge of his dorsal fin and an intense pink coloration on the margin of his caudal fin. A breeding female fish will develop a pale orange color on the edges of her dorsal and caudal fins.

SHIPPING:

·        We have been qualified by FedEx to ship Live Fish via Federal Express.  We ship only Monday thru Thursday; unless otherwise arranged.

 

 

 We package our fish using cycled water, pure oxygen and double-up 3 mil poly bags

 

·         Due to some very active species, some fish may be tranquilized and appear sluggish.  Please introduce them to fresh water if they have gill movement.

·         Learn what is required to successfully maintain healthy fish. There are numerous publications dealing with water quality, disease treatment, etc

The water quality should be: 

Temperature 60-85 degrees Fahrenheit. 

 pH 6.5-8 

 Ammonia 0 PPM 

 Nitrite less than .25 PPM 

 Oxygen 4 PPM or greater 

 Notify us within 72 hours of any problem for help in correcting it!

*Quarantine new fish arrivals for a minimum of 2 weeks before introducing them with other older fish at a minimum temperature of 75 degree F. Some fish diseases are not apparent at cooler temperatures. We cannot accept responsibility for conditions created by mixing new fish with old fish.

·         Tracking No.’s shall be automatically received when using PayPal or upon request.

LIVE ARRIVAL GUARANTEE:

WHEN YOU RECEIVE THE FISH, PLEASE NOTE THAT A FEW EXTRAS ARE INCLUDED IN CASE OF DEAD ON ARRIVAL.  PLEASE COUNT THE FISH BEFORE RELEASING THEM TO THE POND. DO NOT COUNT FISH WHILE THEY ARE IN THE POND.  

·          Please buy with confidence that You will receive your fish alive and healthy. However, in the event that your fish are DOA, a digital picture of the deceased fish with tail(s) cut off must be sent to prettykoifish@gmail.com within three hours of declared arrival time.   All legitimate DOA claims will be considered for replacement or refund of fish minus the shipping cost.  We are not responsible for shipping payments on DOAs or replacements.

·         We do not and will not knowingly ship fish into a restricted area. The buyer is ultimately and fully responsible for understanding and complying with any and all local, state or federal laws pertaining to the possession of fish at their locality.  Contact your local department of fish and wildlife for more information regarding the laws in your area.
